About This Website
This website aims to inform about prime numbers and–to some extent–composite numbers and how it relates to prime numbers (for example, their prime factors).
The three query forms for this very purpose are listed below.
-
Primality
This form not only tells you the primality–whether a number is prime or composite–but also gives you interesting information about them. If a number is prime, it also gives what type of prime number it is and also its order in the sequence of primes. If a number is composite, it gives the type of composite number it is and also a randomized example of its prime factorization.
So far, you can get information on numbers from 2 to 1,000,000.
-
Primes in a Range
Whenever a result is sent, the prime numbers in between the lower bound and the upper bound is enumerated. Also, the number of prime numbers in the resulting list is also presented, if any.
The minimun value of the lower bound is 2, whereas the maximum value of the upper bound is 1,000,000.
-
Order of Prime Numbers
This is for getting informatino on the prime number based on the order of the prime number in the sequence of prime numbers, i.e. 2, 3, 5, 7, ...
The result of this is the same as with the Primality tab, except only prime numbers are given.
Currently, there are 78,498 prime numbers you can get information from.
Sieve of Eratosthenes
A page dedicated to the old method called the sieve of Eratosthenes is added for entertainment and curiosity.
This interactive page features a table of numbers to be marked, in the end, as prime or comopsite. Switching markers is as easy as clicking the button under Markers on the right side panel.
Below the Markers panel is the Checks panel. This is to, instead of marking a number on the table with your choice (as prime or as composite), mark a number with the correct primality–whether it is prime or composite.
The last panel is the Guides panel. This is where the hints can be found when you are stuck or confused but don't want to check yet.
As you can see, it is an interactive page that is meant to be relaxing and calm. It goes through the method from beginning to the end without errors if you press the Demo button.
Upcoming Quizzes Page
A page for randomized quizzes all about the primality of numbers is to be added in the future.
Please enjoy your stay here. Good luck, and have fun!
